haiku according to grandma

grandma here is a blogsite authored by a 62 year old lady. I was intrigued by the name that I clicked it right away and I am glad i did. It’s like finding a new path homeward.

I always thought writing a haiku was fun. Now I find it more than fun. It’s more like a dare..a challenge for you to try writing haiku. Simple, but not quite that simple.

Grandma advised that haiku should have Kigo (season word)…that it also should be a breath long-meaning, you should be able to read it in one breath. There are many lessons to be learned from grandma…so try visiting her blogsite. I’ll be posting more later.

epol

Peter Paul. Epol for short. It used to be Epoy but his dad didn’t want it because from where he’s from, Epoy means someone gullible and naive and Epol is not. In fact, he’s the opposite. Teach him something once and that’s all you need to do. When he was still eight or nine months old, when he’s sleepy, I used to carry him and walk around the house singing my favorite songs. About two months after, he was learning to talk, mostly in last syllables…like when you ask him to identify a flower and you would supply the first..you’d say or-? and he would say kud and then that would make my day..

Just a tip…

It has been sometime since I learned how to kill roaches without buying any of those harmful insect sprays. The discovery came while I was washing dishes using detergent bar soap instead of liquid dish washing soap. A cockroach came out from a crevice on the kitchen wall and approached the sink rather fearlessly. It irked me a bit so I squeezed the sponge I was holding and gave the cockroach a sudsy bath. The roach performed a break dance at once and within a few seconds was dead. From that day on, I have a plant sprayer full of sudsy water ready for intrepid crawling insects.

excuse me but why Bohol:Beloved.Blog?

Well, I thought I would be writing mostly about my beloved Bohol, that’s why.  But suddenly I realized that I can’t find (or don’t know) much to write about Bohol. I like to travel but not doing much. Many reasons and I’m not going bore you with them.

There’s one thing or maybe two that I know about Bohol…that it is populated by hard working people. Boholanos are mostly peaceful but are quite hard- to -please when it comes to entertainment.  You could easily see just how hard-to-please they are when you are among them watching a concert by a not-so-good performer.  After a performance, when they don’t think it’s that good at all, sorry, no applause. But watch them when they are really entertained…

why i didn’t start painting yet…

I already have an aquarelle. Actually I got two. My nephew gave a set as a Christmas gift together with 6 brushes of different sizes. I also have a watercolor sketching pad and canvas pad and a sketchpad. I also have an acrylic set and also some oil pastels. I have books on how to paint.

So what’s stopping you? A friend asked. What more do you need?
Water. I answered.
Heh! she uttered.
Rags and pencils?
She pouted.
I’m afraid I can’t do it, I said, trying to look as if I was joking.
No, she said, you’re just lazy.
Maybe. Maybe not.

But the truth is, I’m out of practice. Why, I can’t even draw anymore!!

So, even if I have to start learning again, somehow I just have to push myself because my friend was right. I am lazy. Or not motivated enough.

christmas season here again

Rush here, rush there; buy here, buy there; pant here, pant there…hehe…all these activities you have to do or think you have to do deplete your energy as well as your pocket…and when you have done all these activities, the day comes. Friends, families, co-workers and associates come together to celebrate the occasion. And all for what? nothing much—just a hug here, a kiss there, an embrace here and so on and so forth. Sometimes we give and receive gifts. Yeah, yeah…and we do that every Christmas..so what’s new? Nothing…except that this season you got black socks instead of white. But have you experienced not having done all these even once? Like you know, not bothering to shop for gifts cause there’s no one to receive it..? Some really lonely people have. And the merrier the surrounding, the lonelier they get..

So the next time you think you have enough of the rush, don’t despair. The reason why you feel rushed because you didn’t have a plan. Try shopping ahead and you will have plenty of time to choose and shop wise. And you won’t experience embarrassment because you forgot to buy your godchild a gift and here he comes!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!

christmas rush

Christmas. To some people, it means family reunion; to some, it means getting away from one job to do another: shopping! yes, and not just a one- stop shopping…in fact you only stop because your legs suddenly feel like they’re made of lead, so heavy and numb from walking around the mall all morning. You went home for lunch thinking that you’re finished with shopping (which is usually not the case because you suddenly felt faint and you just have to have to eat now!). Surely, you had a plan for the noche buena so no problem with that because you always know what you want for the soiree.

You also made a list of gifts for your family and friends, and yes, for your manito. Now, that’s another story because it doesn’t mean it’s gonna be easy. You had in your list that you’d buy a T-shirt for your nephew you haven’t seen for almost three years so not only that you’re worrying about your budget – afterall, you want the best you can afford for your favorite relative – you also have to guess what size fits him or if he would like it. Would a Penshoppe be ok for him? What if he’s a Lacoste man? So your list is only a guide to which section of the mall you’re going. Once there, you’re on your own. And that’s just one from the list.

why I think blogging is fun

Alone in your room writing a post for your blog or just surfing the internet need not mean you are “alone”  anymore. You are among millions of internet surfers, readers and writers of blogs and websites, most of them just a click away.

There’s something about blogging. Blogging allows you to do just about anything. You are free to speak your mind and heart out. That alone is worth your time and money spent. When you have something to say, this is it: the answer to your need to express.

I used to write often…just about anything…on paper and it was quite frustrating because my handwriting is awful…I mean so awful that sometimes I even have to guess a word that I wrote myself!! But this…this what I’m doing now? It’s fun..because it’s convenient, and you can edit it anytime you want without having to worry about erasures. And when you are worry-free, that’s when fun comes in.

the truth about it

Each day begins quite differently now that there are two more additions to this household: epoy and paupau. Waking up hours used to be at seven or so, now it’s at four oclock, give or take thirty minutes.

It used to be so spontaneous- deciding to spend the weekend at a beach resort in Panglao just because you suddenly feel like it. Now, it is planned and even so, most likely at a turn of event, can’t be carried out…like when it starts to drizzle or it’s getting too windy or too hot for comfort.

But instead of getting crossed at being hindered from going, you just have to accept the fact that things are different now…a lot if I might add. Like how to take resposibility in taking turns at babysitting. The babies come first and foremost in everything you do and not do. No wonder why shallow couples don’t want children. They only see the “hindrance” of having them. They just don’t see and never will unless they have to have children. No, sir… they won’t see how your child, just by uttering a new word, or just trying to have that first step or first giggle, could bring joy so intense only a parent can experience.

Evening Loboc River Cruise

Most probably you have been cruising Loboc River. But have you been there recently? You should and make it on an evening and see the banks of the river lighted up. Some of the trees are being washed by the light and reflected on the water. Even the bridge and the building accross, they too are lighted up. It’s quite an experience being there at night..even at a distance or maybe you just happen to pass by, you can’t help but notice how night illumination can create a difference…
